Our Cosmetic Services

Teeth Whitening

There are a variety of reasons that your teeth can become discolored. Some of them are inevitable, and others are due to environmental factors such as drinking dark colored beverages including wine, coffee, and tea.

Yellow teeth don’t necessarily mean that your teeth are unhealthy, but brightening your smile can have dramatic effects. A white smile can make you appear younger and is a sign of optimal health.

If you’re interested in achieving a sparkling smile, we offer effective yet gentle whitening solutions that’ll get your smile looking it’s best.

Porcelain Crown

Dental crowns are protective caps that cover vulnerable teeth to reinforce their strength and beauty. If you have teeth that are chipped, broken, or decayed, Drs. Oettinger and Allen may recommend a custom-crown to restore your smile. Porcelain crowns are customized to blend seamlessly with your surrounding teeth.

The process is simple and can be completed in two appointments. First, we’ll prepare your tooth to give the crown a surface to bond with. Next, we’ll take a precise mold of your smile to ensure your crown fits perfectly. You’ll come back to our office for your second visit where we’ll adhere your crown.

Once the procedure is complete, your tooth will be protected and restored to optimal oral health.

Composite Fillings

If your tooth has suffered minor damage or decay, a composite filling will restore it to its original function and appearance. While we still offer silver amalgam fillings, composite fillings have become popular in recent decades because they’re virtually indistinguishable from your natural teeth.

Prior to the procedure, Drs. Oettinger or Allen will numb your tooth to ensure you don’t feel any pain throughout the treatment. We’ll clean out any infection and decay before filling it with the composite resin. Your tooth will be polished and completely restored.

Porcelain Veneers

If you have various dental imperfections that you’d love to hide, porcelain veneers are a natural-looking cosmetic solution that’ll have you showing off your smile in no time. Veneers are thin, tooth-shaped shells that are made of porcelain and attached to the front surface of your teeth for a flawless finish.

Veneers can conceal imperfections such as teeth that are misshapen, gapped, discolored, worn-down, or chipped. You can pick the color and shape of your new teeth and we’ll craft your smile within two appointments. Porcelain veneers are a perfect choice for patients who want to transform their smile.

Frequently Asked Questions

No, teeth whitening treatments are completely safe. While you may experience some sensitivity following a whitening treatment, it’s usually mild and will diminish within a few weeks.

If you normally have sensitive teeth, be sure to let one of our dentists know and we’ll inform you of the best treatment options to address your concern. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask one of our team members and we’ll be happy to help you.

The effects of the treatment typically last one year. Our patients usually come in for another treatment around that time. Certain lifestyle habits can impact the duration of the effects. You’ll want to follow a few tips to get the most out of your new white smile:

  • Avoid tobacco use
  • Limit food and beverages that tend to stain
  • Use a straw
  • Brush your teeth twice a day, floss daily, and rinse after meals

In addition to following the above-mentioned guidelines, you’ll want to visit your dentist biannually for professional cleanings so they can remove any plaque and tartar to keep your teeth white and looking their best.

Drs Oettinger and Allen strive to ensure our patients’ comfort at all times. In many cases, a crown is used to protect a tooth with severe decay, so this tooth may be especially sensitive.

One of our dentists will thoroughly numb the area before beginning treatment, so you won’t feel any pain. Following the procedure, you may feel some sensitivity. Any discomfort will be mild and can easily be treated with over-the-counter pain relievers or a cold compress.

Tooth-colored composite fillings are designed to last anywhere from seven to 10 years, or possibly even longer with good oral hygiene. This means brushing twice a day and flossing daily, along with scheduling regular check-ups and dental cleanings with your general dentist. By doing so, you’ll maintain healthy teeth and gums to last a lifetime.
